Five Things I'd Have In My Dreamhome

Generally in life we all have dreams and aspirations, one of those in particular is definitely for me regarding the home. I know exactly how I'd want my dream home to look, and to be honest as I am currently a tenant rather than a home owner it certainly isn't the house I am living in.

There are a few things that would be high up there that would have to featured somewhere in my dream house.

1. An island in my kitchen.. weird I know right but I just don't think there is anything worse than not enough work space in your kitchen. I barely have enough room to chop vegetables with all the appliances in kitchens these days! Also they look super stylish and just generally kitchen goals.

2. Skylight windows.. again another weird one, in fact I think I am just going to stop saying that as I expect all of these are going to be different to perhaps the usual dreams i.e.. swimming pool. (I've always been a realistic dreamer ;) ) anyway yes, I'd like skylight windows as I just love how much light they bring in, especially if there were to be one in Darcy's room. As well as this the company VELUX offer some beautiful blinds that I'd want in her room, I find the standard blackout blinds Darcy has in her room currently are a real problem in the way that they are not actually blackout blinds and shine all the light in her room in the morning meaning that we getting woken up as soon as the sun rises every day, more of problem in the summer though! One of these VELUX Blinds would definitely be on Darcys window, I love that they do a Disney collections, they are so cute.

3.Walk-in Wardrobe.. Ok so here is where I become semi-unrealistic... well it's not completely unrealistic is it?! I've always said that if I moved into a house with an en-suite and obviously owned the property I'd convert it into a wardrobe. I've just always dreamed of it.. It's definitely my goal one day to have one!

4. An Open Fireplace.. This isn't a dream for a lot of people as a lot of people already have them, I can only just imagine how amazing this would be on cold winter nights burning proper logs, none of this fake stuff! I just have this picture in my head being all cosy with hot chocolates and blankets. aahh sounds like bliss!

An old photo of us :)

5. Love.. simple. I want to come back to my dream home after a day and just hear laughter and a whole lotta love! I want my children to be happy in our dream home and fill it with many memories. I think you can buy it all but you can't buy love :)

What would be in your dream home?

My Favourite Christmas Films

With Christmas now in full swing, I thought I'd tell you my favourite Christmas films. I haven't got round to watching many classics this year apart from The Grinch and a couple of new Christmas films but these are my all-time favourites.

Elf
This film is absolutely hilarious, and it still makes me laugh every time. I definitely need to watch it before Christmas as it gets me in the Christmas spirit.

Bad Santa
This one is a little naughty, I have even seen Bad Santa 2 yet but I need too. Possibly not one to watch with the young ones or your Grandma. But definitely up there with the funniest, and it takes you on a journey with the main character too.

The Grinch
I've always loved The Grinch and I remember when it first came out when I was in Florida. It makes me feel so Christmassy, I just love the dog in this film and Cindy Lou. Her hair is just amazing. Such a classic must-watch film.

The Holiday
One of the best rom-coms, it has everything you're after..you're going to feel all of the emosh's and also I feel like this film you can watch all year round because it doesn't shove Christmas in your face.

Santa Claus 2
This is very specific, because I guess you're thinking 'why Santa Claus 2' well.. I always used to watch this film when I was younger and I just loved it, I haven't seen it in a couple of years but it is always that film I class as one of my favourite Christmas film just because of the childhood memories.

Love Actually
There isn't a lot to say about this film because this is possibly my absolute faaave! Like The Holiday this has a bit of everything and the actresses and actors in this are like high budget, it's always a good treat watching this.

Christmas With The Kranks
I've loved this film since the moment I started watching it.. it's so funny and again has the actor from Santa Claus films so I knew I was on to a winner. If you're watching a comedy Christmas film then definitely give this a watch.

Have I missed any?  What are your favourite Christmas films?

My Christmas Wishlist

It's not very often these days that I get to buy anything for myself. All my money seems to go on Darcy! I suppose that is what happens. When Christmas started coming round I began think about what I was dreaming of apart from pigs in blankets, family and cosyness.

I put together a cute little wishlist.. might give you some ideas for family too.

Lumee Case £44.99

I've wanted this for really long time after hearing this is what the Kardashians use, and who doesn't want what they've got! It looks like it gives really good lighting for a fab selfie. Anything to look better. lol.

Hurrah For Gin by Katie Kirby £3.99

This book sounds hilarious and after reading The Unmumsy Mum's book I want to really more reality. It's one of those things where you buy and parenting book and it's so sugarcoated. It's so refreshing to read something realistic!

Pretty Iconic by Sali Hughes £20.00

I read her first book Pretty Honest and I really enjoyed it.. think I read it in a week and I never read that fast! I think my partner is getting me this so I'm really looking forward to reading it.

Converse Metallic Pale Pink Ox Trainers £47.00

Ah I love these! My little girl had some rose gold/copper converse and I so wanted them to do adult versions. Well they made some pretty close!

Lightup Message Box £14.99

I've seen a few people with these and I want to join the bandwagon! They look good on flat lays and blog pictures ect. They're cool to have as an ornament too.

Jack Wills Pyjamas Leggings £29.50

I really want some new pyjama bottoms and I already have some Jack Wills ones but they're wearing out a bit so I'd like some new ones, and I already know these are very cosy, I like the print too.

Tom Ford Black Eyeliner £43.00

This one is very pricey but it is without a doubt the best eye-liner I have ever used and I've almost out of the one I've got.

Selfish Mother Winging It Jumper £45.00

I love this, I expect the fabric would be lovely and soft, and I really like the slogan too, it's like my live by slogan.

 Dior Show Mascara £22.95

I had this mascara years ago.. and it's always that mascara I remember being amazing. I think most high street ones do the same job but it would be nice having a luxurious one again with lots of volume.

Silver Turquoise Necklace £28

This is a really pretty necklace I saw on Oliver Bonas (which by the way can we just talk about how amazing that shop is!!!!) I would never usually go for anything like this and certainly wouldn't buy it for myself so what a perfect time to ask for jewellery.

Macbook Pro £1449.00

This is a cheeky one and probably won't ever have one, but this would be so handy as my laptop is getting old now. They are so sleek and pretty too. I'd lurrrrrrrve one!

What's on your Christmas Lists this year?

Gift Guide: Family Edition

Sometimes I think that the best presents can be the ones you can share with your family, I know in the past when I have had presents.. the most memorable ones were the ones that were experiences or days out. Today I thought I'd do another Gift Guide: Family Edition. Hope this gives somebody a few ideas.

This is a fun one, Merlin owns loads of attractions in the country for example..Alton Towers, Thorpe Park,  London Dungeon, Blackpool Pleaure Beach are to name a few. So a pass for the family would be a really decent thing, plenty of days out to enjoy. The most expensive VIP Pass is £599 for a family.. I know what you're thinking thats bloody expensive! But if you think 1 adult to get in to Alton towers is roughly nearly £50 think how much a day there would cost and then work that one out planning on how many times a year you'd visit these places.. So I definitely think it's an investment. I love theme parks so this would definitely be something worth considering.

I've heard loads of good things about Red Letter days. Basically they're a experience company so if you wanted to get anything from a hot air balloon ride all the way to an afternoon tea. This would be your place. They have so many cool gifts and pretty reasonable prices too. A few I like are the supercar driving (aston martin), spa breaks, flying lessons (definitely something I'd like to try!!) This would a great gift especially if you can get everyone involved with the gift.

This is a gift I know I'd love to receive, if you know someone who would love to see something in particular then what a great evening/day out! Or you can buy vouchers and they can choose themselves, especially when you can choose from musicals, concerts, festivals ect. Music brings everyone closer and all that. hehe.

I'm new to this one after only recently being introduced to it. This sounds like the perfect day out, so if you want to go on a walk somewhere, Treasure Trails have self-guided hunts all over the country, there are simply a few questions and you've got to solve the clues. It sounds like the perfect day out as I love family walks.. but sometimes I've always felt like they need jazzing up a little bit and finally someone has done it. Can't wait to try this out.

Have you any other ideas of Family gifts or have you recently purchased one?

Darcys Favourite Books At The Moment

Ever since Darcy was about six weeks old, I have read to her pretty much every night. I think it is a great way to get them in to a bedtime routine, relaxes them, educates them, and most importantly I feel it gives us bonding time.

Darcy certainly has her favourites and these usually include puppet books, characters that she recognises from television books or just books where mummy does funny voices. So, today I thought i'd tell you about some of Darcys favourite books.

Calm down Boris by Sam Lloyd

This is a puppet book and you can definitely expect giggles from this.. It's about a monster called Boris who is far too tickly and kissy. This is what makes it so great that it is a puppet book because it has appropriate moments to be able to go compeltely OTT and make Darcy laugh. Makes me have good fun too as I can use silly voices.

The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson

I'm sure anyone with kids recognises this book! We've only recently bought this after hearing good things about it and I must admit I personally love it. I love how it's a story that leads somewhere. Darcy loves this because of the big pictures and again the voices I use. It's a firm favourite here..

Peppa Pig: My Daddy

Darcy is absolutely obsessed with anything Peppa Pig at the moment so this is the one she always chooses.. although I'm going to have to get the Mummy pig one...Not sure how I feel about Daddy getting all the love.. hehe.

Peepo! by Janet & Allan Ahlberg

This is a story read and loved by me when I was a little girl.. so when I saw this the other day I had to get it and read it to Darcy. I love how it's a classic book and the illustrations are so beautiful. Darcy loves hide and seek and peekaboo games so this one was a winner.

What are your little peoples favourite books..I'd love to find more.

Things To Love About Autumn

Autumn and Winter are absolutely without a doubt my favourite seasons. It's getting colder..christmas is coming.. and lots of snuggling under cosy blankets!
This totally calls for a things to love about Autumn type of post!

1. The Gorgeous Colours Of The Trees.
Look out of the window and just apreciate the beautiful coliurs, I love that the leaves fall down which makes for a walk crunching leaves, which when you're a mum is obligatory.

2. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back!
I have not even had one yet and I'm pretty sure they've been back for like a month?!

3. Halloween!
Yes, I know it's been and gone. Darcy had her first trick or treating sesh and she LOVED it.

4. Kicking Leaves.
We've sort of had this one on number 1. Darcy can't do this but she loves it when I do it, she has a little giggle.

5. Fashion.
I love the clothes in the shops at this time of year and I find shopping for jumpers and warmer clothes more satisfying that summer ones that I may not be able to wear due to British weather being so unpredictable.

6. Hot Chocolates.
It's acceptable to have one with alllllllll the trimmings!

7. Candles.
It's a lot nicer to burn candles in the colder weather,

8. More Roast Dinners!
More of these please! I do love a good roast dinner in the winter.

9. Being able to wear cosy socks more.
Note to self.. go to Primark and buy more. I love love love cosy fluffy socks. The fluffier the better I say!

10. It's Monopoly season!
We love a good game of Monopoly although sometimes it does end in tears! Well with Paul it does as he always loses!

What do you love about Autumn?

Why I Think A Routine Is Important

source: https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/371687775480673603/

Darcy is now 16 months old and I have been pretty strict with routine since probably around 3 months. Obviously there has been times when we've had to change things.. say if we're going out or something but for the most part routine has always been something we have both needed and I feel it's quite important. It's not always easy though, having a routine because sometimes there is going to be occasions or days where she is more tired than others, therefore she'll either nap more or less which I think either of those can totally affect bedtimes. Especially at the moment she is sort of in the middle of transitioning for two naps a day down to one but some days she will still want her two naps however have the second nap too late means a later bedtime. Some people would disagree with me here and say 'well this why strict routines are no good' but I feel like I need something to rely on too. I need to know what I am going to do that day. Routines benefit the whole family I think.
I didn't really know where I was going with this post today, I just felt like it was something I wanted to sit down and talk about.
Another thing is I feel like Darcy's concentration levels and general behavior is different if she is tired, on days when our routine is slightly unstructured it's like having a different child. Like I said above there is and has been plenty of times when we have unpredictable changes but at least I can offer a structure to her day in the most part.
What do you think about routines?

12 Christmas Stocking Filler Ideas | Toddler Edition

We're finally getting closer to Christmas, YAYYY! My favourite time of the year..
I thought to begin my more christmassy posts, I'd kick off with a gift guide. My little girl will be 18 months when Christmas arrives so I thought that I would do a Baby/Toddler edition.
Just a few bits 'n' bobs for a stocking.

If your little ones like Peppa Pig like my one certainly does then this would be a great idea to pop in the stocking. I've got this for Darcy and part of me wants to give it to her at the beginning of December so we make plenty of use out of it over the period.

This is good for the older toddler.. I'd like to get this for Darcy, I feel like she could be the right age to have fun with this.

This is a great babies stocking filler, babies just like old school simple balls to play with and these ones are sensory which is great! I got these for Darcy last year.. so simple and she loved them.

This again is a great puzzle for the older toddler and educational too which is a bonus!

This for me has to be in everyones stocking! Traditional chocolate coins are a winner, i'm going to pop some white chocolate ones in Darcys.

I bought these for Darcy a couple of months ago but thought they'd be a great stocking filler. She's used them a couple of times now and they are great that they wipe off so easily. Whilst I had to throw ours away as they were sat on the side of the bath and went a bit funny, if they're stored correctly they're fine.

This is a cute one that I thought I would include. Just a simple colouring book, gonna pop this in Darcy's.

This is a great sensory toy which I can imagine all babies/toddlers would love. Plus they're spikey too which is great for touchy-feely play.

As I said at the beginning babas love Peppa and they also love noise! So two things in one here!

This one is on the pricey side and possibly shouldn't be on the stocking filler guide. This is a really special gift as you can get babies name on it. I feel Darcy is a little old for this, but wish I had bought it when she was younger.

This isn't exactly the same as on the picture because I couldn't find this one in the end but similar. Gingerbread house kit, and a lovely idea to do together perhaps something that could be given on Christmas eve to do.

A really easy stocking filler that they are bound to love. Cheap and cheerful and lots of fun. Got these for Darcy's stocking already.

So there we have it, what will you be putting in your little ones stockings? I'd love to get some more ideas.

Monday Motivation #2

Sorry this was posted slightly later in the day of Monday; however it is still Monday and the beginning of a new week.

This week I wanted to touch on being a woman and sticking together a bit more and having more girl power.
It's just i've noticed a bit more recently that us women can be a little or a lot bitchy and i've seen it. I definitely find that some ladies can find it difficult to compliment others because they don't have enough confidence to make someone else feel good about themselves. So this week I am going to make the goal of complimenting somebody else whilst not thinking about myself and how I compare. This shouldn't be hard but with the world we live in.. we are constantly comparing ourselves with others..

Do you compare yourself to others?

A Day Out To Stourhead Lakes

As you know if you read one of my previous posts.. Myself and my partner Paul recently became national trust members.. Yes we are still in our twenties! Ha.
It's opened us up to lots of days out, walking and learning for Darcy.. besides there is no better place to learn than the great big outdoors hey!
Paul had been wanting to come here for a while as he knew he'd get some great shots, and he definitely did! When we got here it was almost lunchtime so we decided to beat the queues and get lunch straight away so we could get a table, it was delicious if very very very expensive! We'll take a picnic next time I expect!
We followed a few signs to the gardens and ended up walking to the beautiful lakes, it was beautiful weather and the sun definitely did it justice.
Darcy had a great time, she likes looking up at all the trees and I got her out of her pram a couple of times to encourage her to walk.. with a little help from me. She ended up chasing the ducks.
We've only been to a couple of national trust places so far.. but this was definitely my favourite.
Enjoy the photos..

Monday Motivation #1

So today I have decided to start a series of posts, I started this kind of thing before but never saw it through and I feel like this would be quite motivational to me...so this time I will keep it up! So, every Monday morning I will be posting an inspirational quote as such or something motivational. I feel like it's a good way to start the week and a great thing to look back on!

Source: http://www.lifehack.org/articles/communication/set-goal-that-makes-you-want-jump-out.html?ref=pp

I am really enjoying to blog at the moment and have a little space in the world to write. It take me away to have a bit of 'me time'. Much needed when you're a mummy! This seems like a good quote to start on and very relevant to me right now!
I have a lot of goals at the moment and a lot of them revolve around work and trying to find a different path to take.

Do you have any goals for the future? Or perhaps even for this week!

July: A Month In Pictures

July was the month that I decided that I wanted to knuckle down and really put more into my blog. I really enjoy it, but I thought I didn't have the time, however I am going to make the time. Washing, house work etc can wait. I decided to ask pipdig to install a pretty template on to my page and make it look swooshy and now I am going to think about making good content for it.
This month Darcy has really been getting good at her walking and although she isn't confident enough to do it on her own she will hold my hand and walk alongside me (sooooo cute!!!)

There hasn't been a huge amount of goings on but we've taken a few day trips here and there so that Paul can get some good shots. We went to Wells in Somerset for a few hours, it's a really pretty place and it's great to discover the area you live in sometimes.
One evening we went to St Audries Bay near Minehead, there was a pretty natural waterfall there too.

We also became national trust members this month and went off to Dunster Castle for our first trip. Darcy enjoyed this as they have natural outdoor play there.
On a downside we now need to start looking for a new house which brings a bit of stress to things. We have two months yet so hopefully it will be fine.

I have a couple of things I want to improve on in August:

Get Darcy out more:
I feel like we need more days out so I am going to make sure this happens more in August. We have national trust passes now.. the world is our oyster... haha! But no seriously she loves exploring so I will make more of an effort to do this.

Put more effort in to the content of my posts and look at potentially restarting my Youtube channel:
Yeah this is a new one! So certainly in August I want to be putting my all in to my blog and really making great content and feeling proud of it. So perhaps I shouldn't take on toooooo much however I lost a lot of confidence recently and left my Youtube channel how it was but I really love watching other peoples and always wish I could do that. Well I need to tell myself that I CAN!!!! I began it and I was doing really well. I shouldn't of stopped..

How was your July? Any goals for August?
Enjoy the pictures

The BLU Beets Key Finder | Review

Today I wanted to do something a little different and talk about something I luckily received recently.

That would be the BLU Beats Bluetooth Key Finder. I cannot believe I hadn't heard of these before, it's what I have always needed.
If you're anything like me and you lose your keys or have an on-the-go baby that likes to relocate them often because she likes the noise.. then you probably need this in your life!
Basically what happens is you pop the device on your keyring. Switch the bluetooth on your phone, download the app, pair the two together and bam.. you'll never lose your keys again! As simple as that.. I've been using this for a good couple of weeks now and I have already used the device around 5-6 times which I consider to be a fair amount..says a lot about how much I lose my keys though doesn't it! It's super easy to set up and all of the instructions are on the box, however one thing I would say is the instructions could be slighter bigger or slightly clearer. I'd also say that you can only use this within the range of your home, so if you were to leave your keys in the car or something then you wouldn't be able to do that..but overall this is a great device and very discreet too!

Is this something you would use?

Mummys Makeup

I was unsure on what to name this post because everyday is a mummy day! However some mummy days are lazier than others and you don't always feel like putting much or any makeup on your face.
However today I thought I'd tell you about what products I like yo apply if I'm not doing much but still want to look want to look presentable if I did need to pop out.

First of all my go to is always concealer I never leave the house without a little smidge of concealer which is probably down to skin confidence ect. At the moment I am loving the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, it's a real brightening concealer which I feel really picks your skin up. I apply this around my eye area as well as my cheeks as I sometimes have blemishes.
I then add a touch of my Nars Laguna Bronzer, this just adds a little something to my very pale skin and stops me looking well... dead.
A recent addition to my makeup collection is my MAC Blusher in the shade New Romance, this is great and everything I love in a blush it is also a highlighter so it gives you a skin an extra glow. I've only been using this a couple of weeks but so far... loving it.
At the same time as buying my blusher I also bought my new Eyebrow Gel in the shade Dirty Blonde which I am loving. I used to use the Benefit Browzings but there was something about it I didn't like, this fills in my brows without looking too much or too harsh. Perhaps I was using Browzings incorrectly though.
I then use my Chanel Eyeshadow Stick and literally cover it all over my lid..simple. It's a bronze colour and I think it looks perfect for all seasons as it's subtle.
To finish off I use my trusty Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I'm loving this mascara at the moment as it gives so much definition and really separates your lashes.

Hope you have enjoyed hearing about what I wear on my low key days, I've enjoyed writing this.. something a little different.
What do you wear on homey days? Or are you a no-makeuper?

Sudocrem Care & Protect: Review

Sudocrem is the most popular choice for most mums out there when there looking for something to clear up their little ones' nappy rash, it's been around over 80 years and has been used by our parents and possibly there parents too.
We've been extremely lucky that Darcy hasn't suffered with too bad a case of nappy rash however she does flare up when she is teething which has happened recently which has meant I've been able to give a clear review of this product, we've also found that she's slightly red first thing in the morning after wearing her nappy all night, so on those occasions Sudocrem has been first choice for us and always cleared it up straight away.

Recently we were asked to try out a more recent Sudocrem product. It's the 'Care & Protect' formulation. Now I was thrilled to try this because the name gave me the idea that it was slightly more sensitive on skin, and with Darcy having more on the sensitive side of skin I was more than happy to try this on her. When the product arrived I did a little research on it, it turned out I was right, it not only prevents nappy rash, it also conditions the skin. Not only was I happy that this was gentler on skin, I liked the fact it came in a tube easier to use with one hand I find.
One thing I don't like about the original Sudocrem was the tub, if you've got longer nails, you get it all stuck up the back of them which obviously not the nicest thing in the world. Care & Protect is also a thinner formulation than the original so it soaks in quicker knowing that you haven't got the product rubbing on the nappy and not doing it's job properly. I should admit I haven't used this at every nappy change however I have used it when ever she has been red and it has done the job quickly. It's also a lot more compact, easy to care around with you than the larger tubs.

So all in all I was really pleased with this version of Sudocrem & will be definitely sticking with it mainly because its more sensitive. However I will continue to use the original Sudocrem if Darcys bottom is very sore as I feel as it's thicker its more of a treatment where as care & protect is as it says protection.

Have you tried this product? Did you like it?

Darcys First Birthday

So a couple of weeks ago my baby (or now toddler??!!) turned one! After a couple of weeks of having to get used to that very sad fact I thought I would tell you about what we did to celebrate.
On her birthday (Wednesday 22nd June) we woke up or Darcy woke us up .. opened some presents and off we went to Longleat Safari Park in Warminster. I'm pretty sure Darcy had an awesome time here as she absolutely loves animals. Unfortunately I was suffering from an infected wisdom tooth this week so I wasn't very well, however I did try my best to enjoy myself.

When we got home we watched the cbeebies we had recorded so that we could see if her card was shown on telly, and there she was!! I was so happy, i don't think she understood though..
My mum and dad came round in the evening to give her her present which was nice.

On Thursday 23rd June we got up and set off for a couple of days in Newquay, I don't think i'd ever been here so I was super excited for some new scenery. When we got here we had some lunch and walk around the town and onto the beach before heading to our hotel. We stayed in a Travelodge and we were so impressed, it was only around £70 and thats with all you can eat breakfast for us all. We even had a sea view room!
The rooms was lovely, simple and clean and just what we needed for one night. We got some dinner that evening by which point Darcy was getting tired from all the fun, and I took her back for some sleep. Paul went off to get some shots of Fistral beach. He got some really beautiful ones too. Check him out if you feel like doing so.. i've linked his name to his instragram ;)

The following day we headed to perranporth beach for a bit of a chill on the beach before we had to head home. Things didn't go to plan though, Darcy was in a bit of a funny mood so we finished early. We took the two hour journey home and Darcy was happy to see her toys again.. on the Saturday was Darcys birthday BBQ which she loved however the dress I had bought for her to wear was too long and she couldnt crawl so I had to take it off. The weather wasn't on our side in the morning but it got better for the afternoon.

Enjoy the pictures :)
